A Cultural Dish

A holiday party was planned today for my team at Microsoft. From the invite:

Being part of such a multi-cultural team, I’ve been thinking that it would be cool to have a potluck get together and have everyone bring their favorite dish from their country of origin.

So what does white boy from Nebraska bring? America tends to take dishes from all around the world and “Americanize” them, so I suppose the sky’s the limit for my selection. But perhaps something that is native Nebraskan would be appropriate. Corn on the cob? Or perhaps a bunch of reuben sandwiches! (See #10). Other thoughts?

Ugh, never liked those things. As if I would bring a Chinese dish just because my parents were from China. I would bring potatoes! Cooked the way I like them–salty.

But Jenn - that is your opportunity to show that Chinese food is more than the crap food we get for takeout at all of the Chinese restaurants. Your opportunity to shine!

Or to just make your favorite dish. Hmm… is it… pizza!!!!!

What do you think?
