Anime Brunch = Oishii

Jenn rounded up a handful of people for Sunday brunch, and after tossing out a few ideas, we settled on The Gypsy Cafe. Aside from some tasty Mediterranean cuisines, Gypsy Cafe is noted for its nerd-themed brunches. Past themes have included Video Games, Adult Swim, Lord of the Rings, and (Star) Wars. This week’s theme was Anime, and I was there with all my nerd pride:

Check out that first menu item - the Cowboy Bebop Mushroom Samba Omelette! The Mushroom Samba is by far my favorite Bebop episode - plus, the omelette was stuffed full of portabella mushrooms, shallots, and bleu cheese. I couldn’t resist to try.

Other items included the Final Fantasy Frittata (a favorite for chocobos), Batou’s Biscuits & Gravy, the G-Force Power Breakfast, and the Speed Racer pancakes:

The strawberry sauce was supposed to be the Mach 5 logo, but I looked past it. Aside from being quite nerdy, the food was quite delicious. I will have to go back before I leave Pittsburgh. Maybe next time, they won’t be out of Jett’s Famous Bell Peppers & Beef.
