Bottom-line, it's going to be impossible to get a PS3 this holiday season unless you stood in line and got a preorder the day they started. (Standing in line for a preorder... pfff... back in my day, when we stood in line we used to be rewarded with a console, not some piece of paper and a lighter wallet.) And there's really no reason to get one now. Are there any launch games that interest you? Because they look fairly drab to me, though there are some farther down the pipe that excite me. Waiting is good. Remember all the first-shipment XBox360s that overheated and died. Let the dummies take the defective rushed-out-the-door units and wait until Sony has more that 400K to ship to the US (and only 100K for Japan? Damn, I'm certainly not getting one now.)

P.S.

Yay Wii!

... You assume I know what any of the launch games are? The *only* console I owned reasonably close to launch was the original 8-bit Nintendo, and that was a Christmas gift from my Mom to my Dad when I was 3.

When I see the good games, I wait for the price of them and the console to go down. Then I think about buying.

Wii, on the other hand... I might try to buy close to release. Good games + classic games + new interaction style = good times.
